3.5.3.2 Wireless Transport Layer Security (WTLS) The WTLS is derived from TLS [16], which in turn is derived from SSL 3.0 [17]. It is designed to work over connection-oriented and/or datagram transport protocols. Its main roles are to provide compression, encryption and authentication. The WTLS implements security in the WAP stack and it operates on top of the transport layer protocol (Figure 3.19).
