The Extras tab, shown in Figure 2-9, contains the following four folders: The Components folder holds any components you create to use within your site. Components are an easy-to-use way of enabling you to create something once and use it multiple times, and update it across all pages at once. After you create a Component, you add it to your pages via the Site Extras tab of the Objects palette, not directly from this folder. For more information about Components, see 14. The Designs folder contains all of the pages-to-be that you create within each site design you experiment with to plan your site. The Site Designer is explained fully in 29. The Site Trash folder holds all files you delete unless you change the preferences to send your deletions to your computer s actual trash. Dragging a page or file into this folder keeps your files safe and maintains its links in case you decide you want to use it after all. Clicking the Trash Can icon to send a page or file here keeps the file safe within your site s files but does not track the file s link. To use a file, drag it back into the Files tab. To permanently delete it, select it in the Site Trash folder and use the Delete/Backspace key.

Check Browser Settings When Starting Acrobat: If Web browser settings are improperly set for tasks, such as Web Buy, a dialog box prompts you to change them when this preference setting is enabled. Allow Fast Web View: Web servers with byte serving capabilities can download single PDF pages as they are viewed in the Web browser with Inline viewing (that is, Display PDF in Browser (Win)/Auto-configure Browser (Mac)). Rather than wait for the entire PDF file to download from the server, only the page viewed is downloaded. Save files with Fast Web Views to take full advantage of faster viewing. Allow Background Downloading: When viewing PDF files on the Web, you can have a requested page download to your computer, and the remainder of the PDF document will also be downloaded. If this preference setting is disabled, only the requested page is downloaded. Display Splash Screen: When enabled, the Acrobat splash screen comes into view while the viewer is loading. Disabling this option eliminates the screen from view when the viewer application is launched. Certified Plug-ins Only: Acrobat plug-ins certified by Adobe are the only plug-ins loaded after the program is launched and when the checkbox is enabled. Those third party plug-ins not certified will be inaccessible during the Reader session. To use Web Buy, the option must be enabled. Changing the mode requires you to quit the viewer and relaunch it for the change to take effect. Use Page Cache: When enabled, the Page Cache requires more system memory, but the viewing of PDF pages move faster as pages are loaded to the cache. The next page in logical order is loaded in the cache, thus occupying more memory. Disabling the option conserves RAM on your computer and slows down the page viewing. Use Logical Page Numbers: In Acrobat, you have the ability to renumber pages and create sections. If, for example, you have a 20-page document, and you specify the first page to be designated page 10, the document pages will be numbered 10 to 29. When you open the PDF file in Reader and disable Use Logical Page Numbers, the pages appear in their original numbered form (that is, pages 1 to 20). If you enable the preference setting, the status bar will show

That said, Extract can produce reasonably good results if you get the steps right. And in Photoshop 6, Extract offers some added features most notably, an Undo function that improve on the first incarnation of the command. So take Extract for a test drive, as follows: 1. Choose Extract from the Image menu. Or use the keyboard shortcut, Ctrl+Alt+X. Either way, Photoshop displays the large Extract window shown in Figure 9-20. 2. Select the edge highlighter tool. Most likely, this tool is already active, but if not, press B to select it. 3. Outline the subject that you want to retain. In my case, I want to delete the background, so I traced around the lion, as shown in Figure 9-20. Be sure to either completely encircle the subject or, if the subject is partially cropped, trace all the way up against the outer boundaries of the photograph.
Next you need to map certain URL requests (from clients) to the DWR controller (configured in Step 2, named dwController). Since the DWR controller bean is just a standard Spring MVC controller bean, you can use the SimpleUrlHandlerMapping from Spring MVC to map the URLs for the controller. The following excerpt from pix-servlet.xml shows how to map requests matching the URL pattern /dwr (plus dwr/**/*, *.html and dwr/**/*.*) to the DWR controller. Look in the context descriptor pix-servlet.xml file. Look for lines matching the following listing. The highlighting shows the lines you need to add to handle mapping of the URL to the DWR controller.
The following list describes the primary keys and required elds for each table: Competitors The CompetitorId eld is the primary key. Other required elds are FirstName, LastName, Street, City, State, Zip. CompetitorRobots This is an intermediate table. Its primary key includes both of its elds. Both of its elds are also foreign key constraints to other tables so they are completely constrained. Robots The RobotId eld is the primary key. Name and Class must be required in order to compete. The Weight, MaxSpeed, and Chassis elds could also be required. RobotMatches This is an intermediate table. Its primary key includes both of its elds. Both of its elds are also foreign key constraints to other tables so they are completely constrained. Matches The MatchId eld is the primary key. Date, Time, and Location are also required. WinningRobotId cannot be required because the Matches record will probably be created before the match occurs and at that time the winner isn t known (unless it s a xed ght). RobotWeapons This table lists the weapons that are built into each robot (chainsaw, axe, grapple, laser cannon). Both of its elds are part of the primary key so both are required. The RobotId eld is a foreign key constraint referring to the Robots table so it is completely constrained.
The tapering function is given by h (p ) = (1 4p 2)n and examples are shown in Table 5.4 and Figure 5.9.
See if you can find somebody who has one or both of them, and take them for a spin. Buy the Harmony if you need it to control other IR devices is the only advice we can give here. Because the same chapter that covered remote controls also covered wireless keyboards and mice, we recommend a decent Bluetooth or radio-frequency (RF) keyboard and mouse combination. For our budget we stuck to desktop sets (mouse and keyboard sold together), and picked the Logitech Cordless Desktop LX 700 (about $100 retail, discounts down to $55 available), and the Microsoft Optical Desktop Elite (about $100 retail, discounts down to $75 available). Both are comfortable, middle-of-the-pack offerings that do the job nicely.
With 20 file formats to choose from, you can imagine that most are not the kinds you ll be using on a regular basis. In fact, apart from the native Photoshop format, you ll probably want to stick with TIFF, JPEG, and GIF for Web images and EPS when preparing images for placement into QuarkXPress, PageMaker, and others. Many of the other formats are provided simply so you can open an image created on another platform, saved from some antiquated paint program, or downloaded from the Web. In the spirit of sweeping away the chaff so we can move on to the good stuff, I cover these special-purpose formats first.
