A world leader in optics, the Carl Zeiss company and Sony partnered up in 2006 to make three Zeiss lenses available with the Sony Alpha lens mount. The three lenses all carry the lens designation of ZA, standing for Zeiss Lens for Sony Alpha mount. The rst three ZA lenses are the Planar T* 1.4/85 ZA, the Sonnar T* 1.8/135 ZA, and the Vario-Sonnar T* DT 3.5-4.5/16-80 ZA.
