If you select the Obtain an IP Address Automatically option, you can select the Obtain DNS Server Addresses Automatically option to receive the DNS server address list from the DHCP server. If you prefer, you can specify the addresses explicitly by choosing the Use the Following DNS Server Addresses option and then lling in the IP addresses of the preferred and alternate server. The client resolver attempts to resolve through the preferred server rst; and if the preferred server fails to respond, the client tries the alternate server. To con gure additional DNS properties, click Advanced and then click the DNS and WINS tabs to display the DNS and WINS property pages, shown in Figure 5-16. You can specify more than two DNS servers if you want and change the order of DNS servers in the list. The resolver tries the DNS servers in order from top to bottom.

real samples, the most common situation is that there is an air gap between the sample surface and the analyser head. A simple correction procedure was investigated, based on the intensity of the scatter peaks observed when the sample is excited with (monoenergetic) radioactive sources. The principle of the procedure is that if the intensity of this scatter peak is affected by surface irregularity effects to the same extent as uorescence intensity, and if the scatter peak intensity from a perfectly at surface is known, then it is possible to calculate a corrected uorescence intensity representative of that that would be observed for a at surface in contact with the portable EDXRF analyser. The measurements showed that the correction is effective for air gaps of up to 3 to 4 mm. Potts et al.52 further studied the effects of granulometry. Accepting that almost all silicate rock samples are crystalline, it is clear that for medium and coarse grained rocks, the volume of sample from which the X-ray uorescence signal originates may not have a mineral assemblage that fully represents the average composition of the sample. This effect will cause additional uncertainty in the measurement due to the nite number of minerals of each type within the excited volume. A series of portable EDXRF measurements was made, therefore, of a range of at polished blocks of rock, having grain sizes that varied from ne to medium to coarse. Results indicated that a 10 % sampling precision can generally be achieved for a single determination on ne to medium grained rocks. When a coarse grained Shap granite was investigated, the corresponding gure for the number of separate determinations that must be averaged to

In Details view, the media library behaves like it did in older Windows Media Player versions: as a textual list of information. This interface, which seems to be modeled after 20-year-old MS-DOS database applications like dBASE III+, is utilitarian, but it also performs a lot faster than the more visual Icon and Tile/Expanded Tile views. If you have a slower computer, a massive music collection, or a low-resolution display, this might actually be your best bet. It will certainly provide the best performance. Depending on what you re viewing, some view styles will not be available. For example, in the All Music view, you can choose the Expanded Tile or Details view but not Icon. But, why would you ever want to view songs in Icon mode
