Out of necessity, I usually store macros in two locations. One location is in the SolidWorks installation directory in a folder called macros. It is important for this folder to exist with the name spelled just that way so that certain functions with the Tools Customize dialog box will work properly, including assigning hotkeys and menu selections to the macros. Of course, the other location is not in the SolidWorks installation directory so that when you uninstall the software, you do not lose all of your macros. When you do this, remember to also set the Tools Options File Locations Macros setting. Telling SolidWorks where the macros are only affects where SolidWorks looks when you press the Run Macro button on the Macro toolbar; it does not affect the need for the macros folder in the installation directory that is required by the Tools Customize dialog box mentioned previously.
A subbreakdown leakage current is observable in the ID/VG characteristics of MOSFETs.7 6 79 . Figure 3.31 illustrates this leakage current for MOSFETs biased in the OFF state. This leakage current [called gate-induced drain leakage (GIDL)] is attributed to band-to-band tunneling in the high-field regions in the silicon, While band-to-band tunneling is an effect to be avoided in MOSFET design to limit the transistor OFF current, it can be used to advantage as a low-voltage programming 80 81 mechanism in non-volatile memory devices. ' Band-to-Band Tunneling Figure 3.32 shows the measured drain current characteristics for n-MOSFETs at different temperatures with the gate and substrate grounded. Region I is due to bandto-band tunneling in the high-field depletion region under the gate-drain overlap region. Figure 3.33 shows a schematic diagram of the high corner-field region and the associated band diagrams for n- and p-channel devices. For n-channel devices, electrons tunnel from the valence band to the conduction band when the applied gate-to-drain bias results in band bending beyond the silicon bandgap (similarly for holes in p-channel devices). The generated electrons travel laterally in the depleted drain and these carriers may be amplified by impact ionization if the carriers attain enough energy in the high-field region (as in a large drain bias). This impactionization-multiplied current contributes to the rise of drain current in region II of Figure 3.32. Depending on the doping concentration of the channel, the impact-

When you first select an edge for the variable radius fillet, the endpoints are identified by callout flags with the value unassigned. A preview does not display until at least one of the points has a radius value in the box. You can also apply radius values in the PropertyManager, but they are easier to keep track of using the callouts. Figure 7.39 shows a variable radius fillet after the edge selection, after one value has been applied, and after three values have been applied. To apply a radius value that is not at the endpoint of an edge, you can select one of the three colored dots along the selected edge. The preview should show you how the fillet will look in wireframe display.
