The end of Rome How does an empire die Does it collapse in one terrible moment No, no, but there comes a time when its people no longer believe in it. Then, then does an empire begin to die. Fathers of Rome, I have lived under four great emperors: Trajan, Hadrian, Antoninus [Pius], Marcus Aurelius. And during all those years our empire grew, changed. The law of life is: grow or die. And you, the senators, are the heart of Rome. It is through you that the people speak. Speak up! Let the world hear you! Let the world know that Rome will not die. There are millions . . . waiting at our gates. If we do not open these gates, they will break them down and destroy us. But instead, let us grow ever bigger, ever greater; let us take them among us . . . Honorable Fathers, we have changed the world can we not change ourselves

To connect a Bluetooth Pocket PC to your computer, make sure that you know the handheld PC well enough to make it discoverable (visible), and (if necessary) to give the handheld a name. Complete the necessary steps, and then follow these steps on your PC: 1. Right-click the Bluetooth Device Notification area icon, and choose Add a Bluetooth Device. Or, open the Bluetooth Devices dialog box from Control Panel or its notification icon, and click the Add button at the bottom of the Devices tab. 2. Follow the instructions in the Add Bluetooth Device Wizard to install your Pocket PC. When you get to the Finish page of the Wizard, jot down the incoming COM port number (also called the serial port number), because you ll need to know that number later. After you ve completed the wizard, install on your PC the ActiveSync software that came with your Pocket PC. Connect the Pocket PC or Pocket PC cradle to a USB port on your computer. If your Pocket PC has a cradle, put the phone in the cradle. Then, follow these steps on your desktop (or laptop) computer: 1. If the Get Connected Wizard doesn t appear automatically when you connect your Pocket PC, click the Start button and choose All Programs Microsoft ActiveSync. 2. Choose File Get Connected. 3. Choose File menu Connection Settings. 4. Select the Allow serial cable or infrared connection to this COM port checkbox, and then select the COM port. (If one port does not work, try the other one). 5. Disconnect the USB cable from the computer. 6. On your Pocket PC, turn on the Bluetooth wireless technology. From this point on, the Pocket PC is paired with your computer. You should be able to follow the instructions that came with your Pocket PC to synchronize that device with your PC.

Figure 48-18: The Monitor makes managing a rendering farm quick and easy. When the Monitor starts up, it automatically searches for the rendering manager and connects to it. (If you have more than one manager running, you have to choose which one to connect to.) The main screen is divided into three panes. The top-left pane shows the job queue, and their Priority and Status, and the top-right pane shows information about whatever you have selected in the left pane. You can use the tabs at the top of this pane to select the information that you want to view. The information tabs include Job Summary, Frames Summary, Advanced (which shows the rendering parameters), Render Elements, and Log. The bottom pane lists all the available servers. Next to each server in the left pane is an icon that reflects its current status. Green icons mean that the job or server is active and hard at work. Yellow means the server is idle. Red means that something has gone wrong, and gray means that a job has been inactivated or that a server is assigned to a job but is absent. When a job is complete, it can be deleted from the queue.
